A coordination meeting was held at the Sylhet Metropolitan Police Headquarters conference room to resolve traffic congestion during the upcoming month of Ramadan, keep the main roads free of hawkers, and maintain overall law and order.
The meeting was organized on Thursday, February 27, under the chairmanship of SMP Police Commissioner Md. Rezaul Karim, PPM Service, and Sylhet Range DIG Md. Mushfequr Rahman was present.
The meeting discussed the overall security of the Sylhet Metropolitan Area, security of banks and shopping malls, road management, control of adulterated food and commodity prices, cleanliness of the city, maintenance of law and order, and traffic management.
The Police Commissioner said in the meeting that police patrols are continuing to be increased to prevent the misdeeds of robbery, extortion, ignorant parties and malam parties during the upcoming month of Ramadan. Regarding the eviction of hawkers, he said that the police are trying their best, but the cooperation of the city residents is needed in this regard. He specifically mentioned the need to deploy sufficient volunteers in front of and around shopping malls.
Besides, the Police Commissioner urged everyone to be vigilant to create awareness to stop illegal parking. He said that citizens must obey traffic laws and expressed hope that with everyone's sincere cooperation, the month of Ramadan will be completed smoothly.
