A madrasa teacher named Md. Mujibur Rahman Hawlader (75), who was riding a motorcycle, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Nalchitty, Jhalakathi.
The accident occurred at a place called Khojakhali on the Nalchiti-Dapdapiya road in the upazila at around 7 pm on Thursday (February 27), said Nalchiti Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdus Salam. The motorcycle driver was also seriously injured.
According to eyewitnesses and police sources, a speeding motorcycle coming from Nalchiti crashed into a shop and a tree on the side of the road at Khojakhali on the Nalchiti Dapadpiya Road around 7 pm on Thursday. At that time, the motorcycle rider, Md. Mujibur Rahman, hit his head against the wall of the shop and suffered serious head injuries. Later, locals rescued him and took him to the Nalchiti Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The deceased teacher, Md. Mujibur Rahman Hawlader, is the son of Hashem Hawlader, a resident of Holta village in Charadi union of Bakerganj upazila. He was working as a teacher at Timirkathi Darul Islamia Madrasa. The motorcyclist injured in the incident, Md. Rasel, is the son of Mujibur Rahman, a resident of Barikron area in Kulkathi union of the upazila. After receiving treatment at the Nalchiti Upazila Complex, he has been sent to Barisal Shebachim for advanced treatment.
Nalchiti Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Abdus Salam said that the body of the deceased in the motorcycle accident has been recovered and taken to the police station. Further legal action will be taken after talking to the family.
