Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Syed Ahmed Maruf paid a courtesy call and exchanged views with Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali, Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BEROBI).
The meeting, held on Thursday (February 27) morning in the Syndicate Room of the university's administrative building, discussed various aspects of mutual cooperation in the fields of higher education and research.
The Vice Chancellor, while giving details of the academic and administrative activities of the university, said, "Berobi is conducting joint activities for educational and research exchange with various universities in the country and abroad. We are interested in joint research, academic workshops, seminars and educational exchange activities to further strengthen international cooperation in education and research."
Political Counselor of Pakistan High Commission Kamran Dangal and Attaché for Trade and Investment Zain Aziz were present during the exchange of views. Pakistan High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maruf said that there are about 300 scholarships for Bangladeshi students in various higher education and research institutions in Pakistan. He assured that higher education and research opportunities are also open to students from Berobi.
The meeting was attended by the deans of various faculties of the university, the IQAC director, the registrar, the proctor, the director of the Student Counseling and Guidance Department, and concerned teachers, students, and officials.
After the discussion, the Vice-Chancellor presented mementos to the guests. Later, the Pakistan High Commission delegation visited the Begum Rokeya Memorial Center at Pairaband in Mithapukur, Rangpur.
