The Expatriate Boaljur Union Development Trust UK has distributed cash to a large number of people ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. The money distribution program began on Thursday, February 27, at noon at the Darul Ulum Sonapur Rupapur Madrasa Hall in Boaljur Union, Balaganj Upazila, Sylhet.
Trust leaders said that cash of Tk 3,000 was distributed among about fifty people of the greater Boaljur Union. The money was delivered to the registered people of each ward through the program.
The event was chaired by Haji Abdul Hashim, a member of the advisory council of the expatriate Boaljur Union Development Trust UK. The guests at the event were Haji Farooq Ahmed Talukder, a UK expatriate, senior teacher Maulana Muzammel Ali, social worker Abdus Chattar, former members Haji Manik Mia, Belal Ahmed Talukder, and Khasru Mia. The event, which began with a recitation by Hafiz Saiful Islam, was conducted by Maulana Khaled Ahmed.
At the event, Abdul Hasim, a member of the advisory council of the trust, said, "The Expatriate Boaljur Union Development Trust UK has taken a very exceptional initiative to distribute cash. The fact that the money has reached the registered people of the 9 wards of the union directly is very commendable. This trust has been continuously working for the welfare of the society. We express our thanks and gratitude to those who are associated with this trust."
Trust President Haji Motahir Ali Suhel said, "For almost 18 years, the Expatriate Boaljur Union and Development Trust has been working for the welfare of the poor, the unfortunate, and the distressed people in the UK society. Every year, we stand by the service of humanity through multiple programs. This time, keeping the glorious month of Ramadan in mind, we have taken the initiative to distribute cash as a greeting gift. So that people do not suffer, we have delivered the money directly to the registered people through volunteers. We hope that other welfare organizations will also take such initiatives."
He expressed his thanks and gratitude to all the trustees who contributed to the cash distribution program.
Journalists, leaders of social and cultural organizations were present at the event.
