Volunteer organization Satrang Samaj Kalyan Club (Satrapara) and local people from various professions formed a human chain demanding justice for the murder of Atiqur Rahman Sipur, a young volunteer working for a volunteer organization.
Hundreds of people protested the killing of Sipu at a protest in Karihati Bazar of Chatkhil Upazila of Noakhali district at 11 am on February 27 (Thursday), demanding justice for the killer.
The deceased was identified as Atiqur Rahman Sipu (30), son of Mostafizur Rahman of Amin Uddin Miji Bari of Satrapa village, Noakhala union, Sipu upazila.
According to local sources, on February 22 at 12 midnight, he was called by a friend and beaten severely. At 2 am, Sipur's father was informed, and with the help of Sipur's father and locals, he was rescued and given medical treatment at the hospital. Since there was no improvement, he was sent to the district's Prime Hospital for advanced treatment, but he died in the hospital the next day while undergoing treatment.
Despite the fact that such a murder occurred, there was no cooperation from law enforcement agencies. Protesters protested and demanded justice for the murderer through a fair and impartial investigation.
Local social and voluntary organization leaders including Arafat Hossain participated in the human chain and demanded justice for the killer. Social worker Md. Delwar Hossain Sameer said, Sipu is a good person. He never got involved in any kind of trouble with anyone. He is a good volunteer. We, the locals, are demanding exemplary punishment for Sipu's murder.
