Durgapur (Netrakona) Representative
4,000 kg (80 sacks) of Indian sugar have been seized in a joint operation by the army and police in Durgapur upazila of Netrakona. However, no one was arrested in the operation.
The operation was conducted in the Mechua Bazar area of the municipal town on Wednesday (February 26) night. The operation was led by Army Camp Captain Tanvir Shahriar and a team of police.
According to the operation sources, Indian sugar is stored in a godown behind the mosque in Mechua Bazar of the municipal city. Based on intelligence information from the army, a joint operation was conducted and 80 sacks of Indian sugar were seized from the godown. Each 50 kg sack contains a total of 4,000 kg of sugar, with an estimated market value of four lakh taka.
In this regard, Durgapur Police Station OC (Investigation) Asaduzzaman said that the seized sugar has been brought into the custody of the police station and legal action has been taken in this regard.
