A new political party for young people is set to debut under the leadership of former advisor to the interim government Nahid Islam and member secretary of the National Citizens Committee Akhtar Hossain.
The new party to be launched under their leadership will be named 'Bangladesh Citizens' Party'.
A joint meeting of the National Citizens Committee and the Student Movement Against Discrimination was held at the central office of the National Citizens Committee at Bangla Motor in the capital on Thursday (February 27).
These decisions were made there. The four responsible leaders of the National Citizens Committee who attended the meeting confirmed the names of the party and the leadership positions that have been finalized.
Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the anti-discrimination student movement, has been finalized as the party's main organizer for the south, and Sarjis Alam as the main organizer for the north.
In addition, the names of Nasir Uddin Patwary as the chief coordinator and Hannan Masud as the joint coordinator have been finalized. It is reported that the new committee will lead until the next national parliamentary elections.
For this reason, the size of the party's convening committee is being increased. A draft list of the committee has already been prepared. It places frontline fighters who led the July movement in important positions.
It is also reported that the prominent female leaders of the July Movement are getting a place in the new party.
