Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman said, "I hope that the army personnel will perform their duties voluntarily in the needs of the country and will be ready to sacrifice their lives if necessary."
He said this at the inauguration ceremony of the 7th 'Colonel of the Regiment' at the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Center at the Shaheed Colonel Anis Parade Ground in Rajshahi Cantonment at around 9:30 am on Thursday (February 27).
On this day, the Army Chief also said, 'The regiments of the Bangladesh Army have been modernized. This includes the establishment of new units, the addition of modern weapons and equipment, and development and welfare-oriented activities. This has increased the capacity of the army. We are always determined to make every member of the regiment professional and trained.'
Earlier, Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman was inaugurated as the 7th 'Colonel of the Regiment' at the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Center. Through this, the Army Chief took over the guardianship of the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Center.
When the army chief arrived at the Rajshahi Cantonment's martyred Colonel Anis Parade Ground on Thursday morning, he was formally saluted according to traditional military customs and given a guard of honor by a smart group.
The army chief was then given the 'Colonel rank badge'.
The Army Chief then delivered a speech. After the ceremony, the Army Chief addressed the 19th Annual Commanders' Conference and exchanged views on the development of the regiment, enhancing professional skills, and activities conducted at home and abroad.
He urged all members of the regiment to be always ready to face the challenges of the 21st century through modern, up-to-date training.
The Army Chief and senior officers of the Bangladesh Infantry Regiment were present at the ceremony.
