A group of BNP leaders and activists deprived of their positions held a press conference and protest march demanding the cancellation of the newly formed BNP convening committee in Shantiganj Upazila of Sunamganj.
On Thursday (February 27) at 11 am, leaders and activists of former Sunamganj District BNP Vice President Barrister Anwar Hossain Bola held a press conference and protest march at Shantiganj Bazar in the upazila.
Former vice-president of Shantiganj Upazila BNP, Cholib Nur Bachchu, read out a written statement at the press conference.
In a written statement, he said, "Awami League beneficiaries and sponsors have been rewarded in the Shantiganj Upazila BNP committee. Awami League associates have been included. This committee has been formed to achieve personal interests. Trinamool leaders and activists are rejecting the newly formed committee because this committee was formed excluding the defectors. Those who have fought for the party in the past have not been evaluated. He demanded the announcement of a new committee excluding Awami League associates."
After the press conference, the deprived leaders and activists protested at Shantiganj Bazaar.
Present at the event were former vice-president of Shantiganj Upazila BNP, Cholib Nur Bachchu, Ismat Pasha, former president of the Upazila Volunteer Party, Faridur Rahman, BNP leaders Selim Ahmed, Abdul Latif, Nazmul Hossain, SM Rabed, Jamir Mia and many others.
