An employee of the Noakhali District Election Office has returned the bribe money.
Journalist Imam Uddin Azad confirmed the matter on Wednesday (February 26) morning, saying, "I filed a complaint with the district election officer (February 23) as a plaintiff on the charge of taking bribes. Earlier, the bribe money taken from me last Wednesday (February 19) was returned with the intervention of District Senior Election Officer Md. Nawabul Islam."
In addition, it is known from the written complaint that when the service recipients went to the Noakhali District Election Office to receive online verification of their national identity cards and other services, some office employees unethically demanded money from them and forced them to pay. To find out the truth, Imam Uddin Azad, Noakhali correspondent of Daily Amar Sangbad, went to collect online verified copies of his and his friend's national identity cards on February 19 at around 12:30 pm, and the accounting assistant Tablu Sutradhar also took money from the journalist. When he informed the district senior election officer Nawabul Islam about this, he recovered the bribe money. Later, Mohammad Mohiuddin, a high-ranking assistant of the district election office, stopped the complainant journalist Imam Uddin Azad on his way out of the office and reprimanded him in foul language. He extremely insulted the journalist Imam Uddin Azad for his arrogant behavior.
The investigation revealed that Mohammad Mohiuddin, who has been working in this office for a long time, has arrogantly and arrogantly committed corruption by associating himself with fascists and dictators. His corruption campaign is still ongoing, and he often belittles service seekers when he does not get money. This employee has become the owner of a lot of money by taking immoral benefits through a syndicate. In the meantime, he is jointly purchasing land in the VIP area of Harinarayanpur in Noakhali Municipality and is continuing the construction of a multi-storey building.
When asked about the complaint, Mohammad Mohiuddin, a senior assistant at the district election office, said, "I had a heated exchange with the journalist. He brought two amendments to the public and two verified works. After completing the work, he asked for verified copies. Then the office staff asked if these were yours. When he said they were not his, one of our staff kept the money. Later, when he informed the district senior election officer, the money was returned on his orders."
When contacted, District Senior Election Officer Md. Nawabul Islam said, "There have been discussions, I am looking into the matter."
