Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Khondaker Azim Ahmed (NDC) exchanged views with officials from various levels of Kalai Upazila administration in Joypurhat.
The meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad meeting room at 7 pm on Tuesday (February 25) at the Kalai Upazila administration. The meeting discussed in detail the overall development of the upazila, transparency of administrative activities, improvement of public service standards and price control in the upcoming month of Ramadan. Kalai Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Shamima Akhter Jahan presided over the meeting.
Speaking as the chief guest at the meeting, Divisional Commissioner Khondaker Azim Ahmed (NDC) said,
"Development is a continuous process, which can be implemented through the participation of the public as well as the government administration. The responsibility of the administration is to ensure the welfare of the people, and we will all work together towards that goal."

He further said, "The administration must be proactive in controlling the rise in prices of commodities in the market during the upcoming month of Ramadan. Strict vigilance will be maintained to ensure that the general public gets essential commodities at fair prices by increasing the awareness of traders, consumers and local public representatives."
Speaking as a special guest, Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner Afroza Akhter Chowdhury said, "The government is working to form a people-friendly administration. Local administration must be more responsible to bring momentum to development activities, especially at the grassroots level."
Kalai Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Iftekar Rahman, Upazila Agriculture Officer Arun Chandra Roy, Upazila Health Complex Resident Officer (RMO) Dr. Nahid Nazneen Daisy, along with other officials of the local upazila administration, student representatives and local dignitaries were also present at the meeting.
In the discussion, officials from various departments of the upazila expressed their views on their activities and challenges. The chief guest gave necessary directions to solve these problems and called for making the administration's activities more people-friendly.
At the end of the exchange of views, free sewing machines were provided to 5 women of the upazila for the purpose of skill development and self-employment of helpless and distressed women. At that time, the Divisional Commissioner said, "Making women self-reliant means accelerating the progress of society. The government has taken various initiatives to make women economically self-reliant through skill development."
