Jubo League leader Md. Golam Rubayet Mintu (45) has been arrested in a raid by the police at Saidpur police station in Nilphamari. He was arrested at 3 am on Tuesday (February 25) from the railway quarters in Atiyar Colony of the city.
Mintu is the son of the late Moklesur Rahman of Laxmanpur area of Bangalipur union in upazila. He is the former general secretary of Syedpur Upazila Chhatra League and is currently working as an upazila Jubo League worker and inspector of Syedpur Government College.
Faim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Syedpur Police Station, said that he was arrested from his residence based on a secret tip-off during a routine operation under Operation Devil Hunt. He was arrested and sent to court on Wednesday (February 26) morning as a suspected accused in case No. 20 filed last year.
It is worth noting that Sheikh Bablu, the general secretary of the Saidpur Municipal BNP, filed the aforementioned case last September in connection with the attack, vandalism, arson and looting of the Saidpur political district BNP office during the July mass uprising.
