BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said that as a political party that believes in democracy, BNP will naturally seek votes and elections.
He made these remarks while virtually participating in the Comilla Metropolitan BNP biannual conference on Wednesday (February 26).
Tarique Rahman said, "BNP is a political party that speaks for the people. When the party gets an opportunity, it tries to fulfill the people's expectations."
He also said, "One of the main goals of a political party in a democratic world is to form a government with the support of the people through votes and implement its plans."
Tarique Rahman said, "Today we see some people saying that BNP only wants elections, BNP does not understand anything except elections."
He questioned and said, "BNP is a political party that believes in democracy and the power of the people. Therefore, it is natural to want votes and elections. We need to consider whether there is any other goal behind portraying this as abnormal."
"Listening to what various government figures say, it seems like they are probably deviating from the goal," he said.
Tarique Rahman said that BNP is working to establish people's voting rights and democracy and wants fair elections in the country.
Analysts believe that through this statement, BNP further strengthened its demand for elections and criticized the government.
