Law enforcement agencies have intensified their nationwide operations to curb various crimes including arresting thieves, robbers, dacoits, illegal arms dealers and terrorists. Joint forces have increased checkposts and patrols at various important places including the capital Dhaka. In addition, round-the-clock surveillance is being carried out through the cyber monitoring team to prevent the spread of rumors and false information on social media.
RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director Lieutenant Colonel Ashikur Rahman said that a total of 218 patrol teams have been deployed, 69 in Dhaka and 149 outside Dhaka. RAB's plainclothes intelligence surveillance has been increased. In addition, RAB's robust patrols and check posts have been set up against various crimes including theft, robbery, kidnapping, murder, extortion, and drugs. In addition to the anti-terrorist and anti-drug operations, various activities will continue to maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, Deputy Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that 500 patrol teams and 54 police check posts have been operated in Dhaka Metropolitan City to strengthen police activities. Along with the DMP check posts, CTTC, Anti-Terrorism Unit and RAB have also performed their respective duties. In the last 24 hours, 248 people involved in various crimes have been arrested.
Several important decisions have been taken in the core committee meeting chaired by Home Affairs Advisor Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury to improve the law and order situation. These decisions include increasing the number of checkpoints at important points in the capital, increasing patrols in crime-prone areas, forming joint forces to conduct operations, arresting terrorists and criminals through specialized units, and taking steps against false rumors and propaganda.
The purpose of this law enforcement activity is to ensure the safety of the general public and maintain a peaceful environment in the country by bringing criminals under the law.
