The Ansar and Village Defense Force District Rally-2025 was held in Satkhira with the aim of strengthening the morale of the Ansar and Village Defense Force members, developing their skills, and making them more aware of their professional responsibilities.
The rally was organized by Ansar and Village Defense Force on Tuesday (February 25) morning at the premises of the District Shilpakala Academy.
Khulna Range BAM Deputy Director Md. Nurul Hasan Faridi inaugurated the rally by releasing balloon festoons and pigeons as the chief guest, presided over by Satkhira Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mostaq Ahmed.
The chief guest said in his speech, "The members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force in the 1952 Language Movement and the 1971 Liberation War are brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives, in exchange for whose sacrifice we got our beloved motherland, Bangladesh, the red and green flag." The activities of Ansar VDP are ongoing by providing up-to-date and advanced training to unemployed youth at the grassroots level across the country. As part of the reforms aimed at making the Ansar Force up-to-date, professionalism must be fostered to increase capacity in all fields and equality and fair rights must be ensured in all fields.
District Commander of Satkhira Ansar and Village Defense Force Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman was present as special guests at the district rally under the overall management of District Police Superintendent Mohammad Monirul Islam, Satkhira Civil Surgeon Md. Abdus Salam, DGFI Deputy Director Md. Rezaul Haque Chowdhury, District Fisheries Officer G.M. Selim, Satkhira District Election Officer Md. Atiqul Islam, District Ansar Battalion Commander Mohammad Iftekharul Islam.
At this time, District Commandant Md. Ashrafuzzaman said, Bangladesh Ansar Bahini has a glorious history and tradition. This force actively participated in the 1952 Language Movement and the Liberation War in 1971. Ansars are playing an important role in the formation of the country. The participation of the district Ansar and VDP in the overall activities including sports and culture is noteworthy. In the current situation, there is a plan to make the Ansar force's role in the security system of villages and cities, ensuring the security of government and private institutions and making the force's activities more effective in disaster management. He thanked the members of the Ansar and Village Defense Force for protecting communal harmony in the changed situation and strengthening round-the-clock security in all the worship halls of the district. In addition, the role of the Ansar force in strengthening the security of the unprotected police stations of the district and recovering looted weapons and ammunition after the 2024 uprising is commendable.
Also present at the event were Ansar Battalion Khulna Director Mollah Abu Sayeed, Ansar Battalion Jessore Director Md. Tarafdar Alamgir Hossain, Joint Khulna Range Deputy Director Md. Azim Uddin, Jessore District Commandant Md. Al Amin Hossain, Khulna District Commandant Md. Minhaj Arefin, District Food Controller Sheikh Riyad Kamal Rony, District Accounts Controller Officer Md. Azgar Ali and others.
In addition, 300 Ansar and VDP members of various ranks, including current and former Ansar and Village Defense Force officers and employees working in Satkhira district, journalists from print and electronic media, and all upazila Ansar and VDP officers, were present.
Various awards were presented to members of the Ansar and Village Defense Force in recognition of their special contributions at a district rally in Satkhira. Several members were honored for their skills in maintaining law and order, achievements in training, and dedication to duty.
