The government road in Kulaura, Moulvibazar, which had been occupied for 12 years, has finally been opened. On Tuesday (February 25) afternoon, the upazila administration cleared the encroachment on the road in the Paschim Singur area of Baramchal Union and opened it for the movement of the general public.
This initiative was implemented under the leadership of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (Additional Responsibilities) and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shah Zahurul Hossain. Local residents have expressed relief as the encroachment was cleared due to the intervention of the administration.
Locals said, "The road used for the movement of people from Brahmanbazar-Bhatera-Fenchuganj road to West Singur, Nayabagan and Singur Punji was occupied by Jubo League leader Ajmal Ali Shah Sentu for a decade. He used to lock the entrance of the road with a gate and use it as his personal road."
However, after the administration's action, Jubo League leader Ajmal Ali Shah Sentu claimed, "He had built an alternative road and provided a gate for the security of his garden. However, the road has been opened on the orders of the administration."
The upazila administration said, "Since the road is a government road, it will be kept open for public use and government signboards will be installed there."
