Students hold protest march and sit-in program in Muktagachha to protest rape, as is the case across the country
Students staged a protest on the campus of Shaheed Smriti Government College on Tuesday afternoon.
The procession held a sit-in program in front of Muktagachha police station.
Md. Khairul Islam, Joint Member Secretary of Mymensingh District of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Amir Faisal, Member Secretary of Shaheed Smriti Government College Branch of Chhatra Dal, college students Antu Sarkar, Shafi, Mamun, Mahi, Himel Prijoy, and others spoke at the sit-in program.
The students participated in the protest march with placards with various inscriptions like "Women, take up arms and protect yourself, why is the rapist in my sister's grave outside, tell everyone, bury the rapist". The students said that there are cronies in the fascist government to create a bad situation in the country. They are committing other crimes including rape. We, the student community, have always been and will be vocal in this regard. At this time, they demanded that the identities of the rapists be made public and that they be tried in public and held a 1-hour sit-in program on the highway.
