A housewife named Seema Akter (40) was killed in an attack by robbers in South Keraniganj, Dhaka. The miscreants hacked her to death in front of her six-year-old daughter.
The tragic incident took place in front of Boubazar behind Ambagichar in Ikuria Aganagar area on Tuesday evening (February 25). The deceased Seema Akhter is the daughter of Jalil Bepari of Boro Kandi village in Madaripur Sadar upazila. She was the wife of fruit trader Akhter Hossain and lived with her family in Aganagar area of Keraniganj.
Citing locals, it was learned that Seema was returning home with her daughter Sakiba from coaching. On the way, a group of miscreants attacked her and hit her on the head and various parts of her body with sharp weapons. Locals rescued her in a serious condition and first admitted her to Mitford Hospital. Later, when she was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the doctors declared her dead.
Kidnapping or premeditated murder?
The deceased's husband, Akter Hossain, said he was at the shop at the time of the incident. Upon receiving the news, he rescued his wife from the scene and took her to the hospital.
He added, "The miscreants have looted Seema's earrings, gold chain and money. However, I don't understand whether this is just a robbery or some other conspiracy."
Inspector-in-charge of Dhaka Medical College (DMCC) Police Camp Md. Faruk said, "The body has been kept in the morgue and the matter has been reported to the concerned police station. An investigation will be conducted to uncover the real reason for the murder."
Locals are horrified by the incident and have demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits. The police have already started an investigation to identify the culprits.
