Washington, D.C. — After discussing the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron made important remarks at a joint press conference.
Trump said peace talks with Russia are moving forward, and they are working towards a lasting peace. “We are moving towards a just and lasting peace,” Trump said. He also said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could visit Washington soon, where an agreement could be signed on Ukraine’s vital mineral resources.
On the other hand, Macron highlighted Europe's massive financial support for Ukraine. He said, "There will be no change in Europe's role, we stand by Ukraine." He added that the unity of the international community is needed to ensure Ukraine's long-term security.
In addition, the two leaders discussed the need to take a strong stance against Russian aggression and pledged their countries, along with NATO allies, to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.
