The Sherpur Bridge on the Sylhet-Dhaka highway over the Kushiyara River will be closed for 10 hours for renovation work. The Roads and Highways Department (RHD) said on Monday (February 24), "The bridge will be completely closed for traffic from 11pm on February 28 to 9am on March 1."
A notification from the Office of the Director of the Sylhet-Dhaka Corridor Road Development Project of the State Road Transport Corporation (SWRC) said that the repair work of the damaged deck slab of the bridge will continue. At this time, it has been suggested to use the Shayestaganj-Mirpur-Sreemangal-Moulvibazar-Fenchuganj-Sylhet route as an alternative.
In addition, vehicles plying on the Dhaka-Sylhet-Sunamganj route have been requested to use the Saidpur-Raniganj-Jagannathpur-Sunamganj route. The authorities have urged passengers to make alternative plans in advance to avoid inconvenience.
