An elderly woman named Saherun Nesa (60) was allegedly scalded by pouring boiling water over her in Dasar, Madaripur, over a dispute over land.
A case has been registered at Dasar police station in this incident. Police are arresting the accused in the case, Oliur Munshi (33) and Sefali Begum (40) of Kamalapur village in Dasar. Dasar police confirmed the matter on Sunday.
According to police sources, on Sunday evening, due to a previous enmity, neighbors Tamizuddin, Oliur Munshi and his gang attacked Anwar Sardar's house with country-made weapons in Kamalapur village of Dasar upazila. At one stage, the accused poured boiling hot water mixed with chemicals on the body of an old woman named Saherun Nesa.
The elderly woman suffered burns on various parts of her body. Saherun Nesa, who was burnt in the incident, was sent to the Dhaka National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute Hospital in a critical condition. After that, the elderly woman was treated in a hospital.
In this incident, the old woman's son Anwar Sardar filed a case with Dasar Police Station, accusing 12 people, including Tamizuddin Sardar, as the plaintiff. In that case, the police arrested Oliur Munshi and Sefali Begum and sent them to jail.
The old woman's son Anwar Sardar said, "My mother's body was burned in various parts by the hot water. She is writhing in the hospital bed. I demand justice for the guilty."
In this regard, Dasar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Abdul Barik said that the accused, Aliur Munshi and Sefali Begum, were arrested on Saturday afternoon after the case was filed. The arrested accused have been sent to court.
