Both sides have made conflicting claims over the ownership of the Latar Nara River (Jalmahal-2) in Paikgachha, and there have been allegations that they are spreading misinformation about this, implicating each other and even political leaders and activists.

Sources say that in the meantime, local Abu Tuhin Howlader and Mir Rubel have entered into an agreement with the Sonartari Fishermen's Association Partnership to encircle shrimp in the 6.25-acre government water reservoir, but the opponents are calling it illegal and false.
Dipankar Dhali, who is in possession of the Jalmahal, said, "I have 32 bighas of land owned by various people and 17 bighas of FCDI Water Development Board's total 62 bighas of land in partnership and am in possession of them by leaving the fish fry at the beginning of the season. He alleged that some local people are spreading false allegations against Upazila Chhatra Dal President Sarojit Ghosh Devner, who failed to occupy the Jalmahal by citing the so-called lease agreement as the same as before.

In this regard, Upazila Chhatra Dal President Sarojit Ghosh Dev said, "My opponents Tuhin Hawlader and Mir Rubel Gangra are trying to take advantage of me by making fabricated and untrue allegations and spreading misinformation in my name."
