Locals, teachers, students, Bagan Panchayat, UP members, tea workers and guardians formed a human chain in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar, demanding the hanging of the killers of Purnima Reli, a tea planter.
Around 2,000 people from Shamsher Nagar Tea Garden took part in a human chain and protest march on Chatlapur Road in Shamsher Nagar at 9 am on Monday (February 24) demanding maximum punishment for the accused in the attempted rape and brutal murder case of Purnima Reli, a 4th grade student of Shamsher Nagar Tea Garden Primary School.
The human chain was attended by the deceased's mother Laksama Reli, father Apparao Reli, Shamsernagar Tea Garden Primary School headmaster Nirmal Das Painka, social worker MA Ahad, Shamsernagar Tea Garden Primary School assistant teacher Moni Goala, editor of Cha Mazdoor newspaper Sitaram Bin, Shamsernagar UP member (panel chairman) Yakub Mia, social worker Istiak Ahmed Babel, journalists Salahuddin Shuvo, Nurul Mohaimin Milton, and MA Wahid Rulu.
Schoolgirl Purnima Reli's mother and father said, "They didn't let my little girl Moni live. She was brutally murdered. I want the murderers of my daughter to be hanged." It is worth noting that Purnima Reli (10), a tea worker from Shamshernagar Tea Garden in Kamalganj Upazila of Moulvibazar, was killed by two young men in a well after she screamed during an attempted rape.
17 days after the incident, on the midnight of February 22, Narayan Tiller Lashana Renget's son Dibosh Renget (19) and on the morning of February 23, Sunil Bauri's son Ujjal Bauri of the same area were arrested from the Shamshernagar Tea Garden area and sent to the learned court. Kamalganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Syed Iftekhar Hossain said, "We have arrested the murderers of Purnima Rally and sent them to jail."
