Manikganj's Shibaloy Police Station organized an "Open House Day" on Sunday (February 23) to further strengthen the relationship between the police and the public. The event was lively with the presence of police officers, public representatives, local dignitaries and the general public.
The event, organized under the chairmanship of A.R.M. Al-Mamun, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibaloy Police Station, was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Abdul Wares as the chief guest and Additional Superintendent of Police (Shibloy Circle) Sadia Sabrina Chowdhury as the special guest.
The event discussed important issues including local problems, law and order situation, drug eradication, prevention of violence against women and children, etc. The general public got the opportunity to directly talk to the police and express their complaints and suggestions.
Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Abdul Wares said, "The police are friends of the people. We are working relentlessly to gain the trust of the people. Our goal is to bring crime to zero and improve the quality of police services through the open house day, through the opinions and cooperation of the people."
Local political leaders including Upazila BNP Organizing Secretary Md. Nasir Uddin, Ulail Union Parishad Chairman Md. Anisur Rahman, Shibaloy Model Union Parishad Chairman Md. Alal Uddin Alal, Teota Union Parishad Chairman Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Mahadevpur Union Parishad Chairman Md. Shajahan were also present at the event.
Welcoming such initiatives, locals said that this open discussion by the police station will reduce crime in the society and strengthen the police-public relationship.
Shivaloy Police Station OC A.R.M. Al-Mamun said that the open house day was organized to increase public awareness so that the common people can easily report their problems to the police and get them resolved quickly.
