A young man named Md. Alauddin (36) was hacked to death in Bashundhara residential area of Halishahar, Chittagong. It is learnt that he was killed for marrying a fifth wife without informing his fourth wife.
The incident occurred at 2 am on Saturday (February 22) in a rented house in the Bashundhara residential area of Halishahar.
Later, upon receiving information, the police recovered Alauddin's body. The fourth wife, Nur Jahan (23), accused in the incident, has been arrested. The killer, Nur Jahan, is the daughter of the deceased Nurul Islam of Maijdi police station in Noakhali district. The deceased, Alauddin, is the son of Moin Uddin of Moti Alam Bazar of Sonaimuri police station in Noakhali district.
Halishahar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Moniruzzaman said, Alauddin has married more than once. His fourth wife hacked him to death after the fifth marriage. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot, recovered the victim's body and prepared an autopsy report. Later, the body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Legal action is being taken in this regard.
