A Jubo League activist has been arrested in a case filed in connection with an attack on a small businessman and human rights activist Moudud Abdullah Shuvro in Comilla.
The district law enforcement agencies were shocked after the news was published on the popular online news portal Bangla FM Sangbad.
Multiple complaints and cases have been filed against them at Kotwali Model Police Station. The police have arrested the accused named in the complaint in that case, Mohiuddin. He has been sent to jail through the court, Kotwali Model Police Station OC Mohinul Islam confirmed the matter to reporters on Sunday morning. The other accused are still absconding.
Police have arrested a Jubo League activist named Mohiuddin (40) for allegedly threatening to kill and causing injury. His home is in Chawalpur village of Comilla Sadar upazila.
On Sunday (February 23) morning, victim Moudud Abdullah Shuvro said, "I have filed a case against the accused under the Speedy Trial Act."
He further said that for the past four months, relatives and friends of the remaining accused named Ezhar have been threatening me by defaming the administration by using the name of Sir Group to withdraw the case. They have hacked my Facebook ID and cloned my mobile number. They have been threatening me with various types of threats including posting various obscene pictures and videos from my Facebook ID if I do not pay 10 lakh taka. For this reason (February 15) I filed a GD with the police station for cyber crime and digital security.
According to the GD sources, the gang named Sir Group is trying to blackmail me in various ways by hacking the page of an online newspaper run from the ID of Moudud Abdullah Shuvro. Since the arrest of the accused Mohiuddin, the other accused named Ezhar are threatening me in various ways to withdraw the case. I am demanding exemplary punishment by bringing the criminals under the law and demanding safety of my life from the administration.
Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Mohinul Islam said, "Ezhar's accused Mohiuddin has been arrested, there are several other cases against him. He said that the rest of the accused will also be arrested soon after the source of this accused is found."
Moudud Abdullah Shuvre's GD police have already filed a case under the Cyber Crime and Digital Security Act on Sunday.
