The mosque of Baitul Aman in West Dharabahar Nayapara, West Amura Union, Golapganj Upazila, Sylhet is being reconstructed. On February 19, at 11 pm, the foundation stone laying ceremony of the mosque was inaugurated by Oli Ibn Oli Hazrat Maulana Shaikh Oliur Rahman Pir Sahib as the chief guest. Eminent writer and journalist Anwar Shahjahan was present as the special guest.
The mosque started as a small tin house about 30 years ago. One of its founders was Maulana Isak Ali of Barkot village in southern Dhaka, who donated land for the mosque. Since then, the locals have been trying to expand the mosque.
During the foundation stone inauguration, the chief guest, Wali Ibn Wali Hazrat Maulana Shaykh Woliur Rahman Pir Sahib, said, “We have gathered here today by the infinite mercy of Allah. The construction of the mosque is a great task for us, and it has been possible with the donation of Mrs. Shahida Khatun. May Allah bless her donation. This mosque is not just a place of worship, it is a symbol of our unity and peace. May Allah help us complete this task and accept all our deeds.”
Speaking as a special guest, writer and journalist Anwar Shahjahan said, "By the grace of Allah, I am very grateful to be able to participate in this great work of building a mosque. Special thanks to Mrs. Shahida Khatun, who has helped in this work. This mosque will be a symbol of our unity and love for Allah."
At the foundation stone laying ceremony, Shahed Ahmed, head of the mosque committee, expressed gratitude for starting the construction of the mosque with the funding of Mrs. Shahida Khatun.
Mrs. Sahida Khatun, mother-in-law of Abdul Bashir, a UK expatriate community organizer and general secretary of Golapganj Upazila Education Trust UK, lives in London. Her hometown is in Holimpur village of Achirganj in Golapganj Upazila of Sylhet.
The Baitul Aman Mosque in Nayapara, West Dharabahar is located to the west of Golapganj Technical College and to the south of Golapganj Stadium.
Social worker Laku Mia, Director of Abdul Mutlib Complex Anwar Masum, President of Anwar Shahjahan Primary School Management Committee Anwar Humayun, Head of Mosque Committee Shahed Ahmed, Members Jabed Ahmed, Sadiq Ahmed, Belal Ahmed, Sumon Ahmed (1), Hossain Ahmed, Sumon Ahmed (2), Karim Ahmed, Tajul Ahmed, Fongki Mia, Lakhai Mia, Rubel Ahmed were also present at the inauguration of the foundation stone of the mosque. In addition, representatives of Dharabahar Nayapara Youth Welfare Council included the main entrepreneur Taher Ahmed, Munna Ahmed, Tanim Ahmed, Mahbub Ahmed, Sunny Ahmed, Fahim Ahmed, Zuber Ahmed, among others.
