A devotee named Milon from Jamadarni area of Matikata union has alleged that Md. Lutfar, the deputy assistant land officer of Baragachi union in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi, does not do any work without paying.
He said that the property in Amanat Pur Mouzai JL No. 269, RS Khang No. 28, Dag No. 144, area 1.66 acres, kat 0.6250, was acquired through inheritance and registered in his name, but when the defendants did not give up possession, I filed a written complaint with the Assistant Commissioner (Land). In view of this, on 17/12/24, the Godagari Land Office wrote to Baragachi Union Land Deputy Assistant Officer Md. Lutfar Rahman for document verification.
But to verify the documents, Milon has to take Lutfar Rahman on a motorcycle to the Rajshahi Sadar Sub-Registrar Office and is being forced to spend money for this.
He is running to Godagari Upazila Land Office, Baragachi Union Land Office and Rajshahi Sadar Sub-Registrar Office one after another in the hope of getting the land. But there is no progress in the work, on the contrary, he complains that additional cost pressure is being created.
Victim Milan raised the question, "Why do we have to pay extra to get government services? Where is the relief from this suffering?"
When contacted on mobile phone regarding this matter, Lutfar Rahman said, "The work will not be done without expenses! If you work, you will have to pay the expenses!" When asked to complain to AC Land Sir about this, he said that there was no problem.
When asked about this, Godagari Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shamsul Islam said that this should not have happened, but if something like this happens, I will investigate the matter and take necessary action.
However, locals have demanded a fair investigation into the incident and ensuring accountability.
