Arab leaders have gathered to block US President Donald Trump's plan to occupy Gaza, the Jerusalem Post reported on Friday.
Diplomatic and Saudi government sources told Al Jazeera that Arab states oppose Trump's plan for Gaza. However, there is disagreement over who will govern the besieged enclave. Arab leaders will meet in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi foreign policy expert Omar Karim told AFP the summit would be "the most important" in decades in terms of relations with the wider Arab world and the Palestinian issue.
A source close to the Saudi government told AFP that Arab leaders will discuss a "reconstruction plan" for Gaza that is the opposite of Trump's plan.
The meeting was originally planned to include Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Jordan, but the conference has been expanded to include all six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the Palestinian Authority.
