The immortal Ekushey Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day were celebrated with due dignity in Kapasia, Gazipur through various day-long programs. On Friday, February 21, at the first hour of Ekushey, people from different walks of life including the upazila administration paid tribute to the language martyrs by placing flowers at the Shaheed Minar.
On Friday (February 21) morning, a discussion meeting, cultural program and award distribution ceremony were held at the Upazila Parishad meeting room to mark the Great Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day. The discussion meeting, chaired by Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Tamanna Tasneem and conducted by Upazila Assistant Education Officer SM Fatema, included speeches by Assistant Commissioner Land Md. Nurul Amin, Jamaat-e-Islami's Gazipur District Nayeb Amir Maulana Mohammad Shefaul Haque, Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Atiqur Rahman, Police Station Sub Inspector Md. Aminul Haque, Kapasia Sadar Union BNP President and BRDB Chairman Md. Selim Hossain Arju, Kapasia Press Club President F. M. Kamal Hossain, Secondary Education Officer Md. Abdul Arif Sarkar, Social Service Officer Md. Ruhul Amin, BRDB Officer Dilara Akhter Fakir, Kapasia Government Pilot High School Acting Headmaster Md. Mahmudul Hasan, Harimanjuri Pilot High School Headmaster Abdul Malek, Women's Affairs Officer Fatema Tuz Zohra, among others.
In addition, Milad and special prayers were held at the Upazila Complex Jame Mosque and Kapasia Model Mosque, seeking forgiveness for the souls of those whose sacrifices earned them their mother tongue.#
