It is difficult to determine the number of countries in the world that are truly friends of the United States and India. However, it is clear that those who claim to be their friends accept this relationship mainly out of helplessness. The reality is that these countries mainly follow an exploitative policy, where their own interests are paramount. The welfare or sovereignty of other countries is secondary to them.
A post has been circulating on social media since yesterday—
"US President Donald Trump has left the responsibility of solving Bangladesh's problems to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi!"
Some are promoting this as "breaking news", which is very sad and shameful. If someone, as a citizen of a free country, accepts such information as normal or expresses excitement over it, it reveals his lack of patriotism.
Bangladesh is an independent and sovereign state, with its own constitution, laws and policies. The leaders of any other country cannot decide the future of Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh have the sole right to make this decision.
Sadly, some people believe that the solution to a country's political, economic, or social problems should be left to foreign powers. Is this really a sign of patriotism?
The question is, who gave Trump or Modi the right to decide on Bangladesh?
The freedom won in 1971 through blood and sacrifice can never be handed over to anyone else. The power to determine the future of Bangladesh should rest solely with the people of this country. Surrendering national interests to any foreign power means sacrificing the country's independence.
If a foreign country takes any decision against the interests of Bangladesh, it will never bring welfare to the people of this country. Therefore, we should determine the future of our country ourselves and be vigilant about foreign interference.
The right to decide the affairs of Bangladesh belongs only to the people of this country. Those who are dependent on foreign powers and spreading misleading information, in fact, fail to understand the value of independence. We should be inspired by the spirit of patriotism and protect our sovereignty and not be a pawn in the hands of any foreign power.
