Gouripur Upazila Executive Officer visits graves of language warriors Maulana Abdul Wahed and Abdul Quddus
This is the first time that Gouripur Upazila Executive Officer M. Sajjadul Hasan officially visited the graves of former Kolkata Assembly member of Bokainagar Union of Gouripur Upazila, Mymensingh, Maulana Abdul Wahed Bokai Nagari, MLA 52 of the United Front, and language soldier, and his son Abdul Quddus Bokai Nagari. Present at the event were researcher journalist Anwar Hossain Shahin, president of Gouripur Press Club Kazi Abdullah Al Alamin, president of Gouripur Journalist Oikya Forum Shahjahan Kabir Hira, vice-president journalist Md. Humayun Kabir, president of Gouripur Reporters Club Raihan Uddin Sarkar, journalists Mahfuzur Rahman, Ripon, son of Abdul Ohahed Bokai Nagari, former chairman of Bokai Nagar Union Abdul Wadud Bokai Nagari and supervisor of Islamic Foundation Kamrul Hasan, language soldier Abdul Quddus Bokai Nagari's son Abdul Wahab Munir, Sharif Bokai Nagari and many others. Late language soldier Maulana Abdul Wahed Bokainagari announced that all arrangements would be made for him to be awarded the 21st national award. It is worth mentioning that when the then Pakistani government issued Section 154 during the language movement, the leaders of Gouripur violated Section 54 and carried out leaflets, distribution, street meetings, rallies, and protest marches in favor of the Bengali language. Moreover, on February 23, the students of Rajendra Kishore High School blocked the Gouripur-Mymensingh railway line and intensified the movement and formed public opinion. For this reason, a Hulia was issued in the name of 19 language soldiers of Gouripur, among whom were the names of the language soldiers, Maulana A. Wahed Bokainagari, a member of the Kolkata Assembly, and language soldier A. Quddus Bokainagari. A. Quddus Bokainagari was arrested by the police. He served a long 9 months in prison.
