Police have arrested a man named Saiful Islam Sheikh (38) from Ghoraghat, Dinajpur, with 50 bottles of Phensedyl.
He was arrested from Kalabari area of the upazila around 9 am on Friday (February 21). The arrested Saiful Islam Sheikh is the son of the deceased Shaheed Sheikh of Ranigram area of Sirajganj Sadar.
Ghoraghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Namjul Haque said that a drug dealer was staying with Phencidyl in the Kalabari area of Bulakipur Union of the upazila. Based on such information, a police team led by SI Sabbir Alam conducted a raid at the place. Later, 50 betel nuts of Phencidyl were recovered after searching the body of a person named Saiful Islam.
Initial interrogation revealed that the arrested accused confessed to collecting Phensedyl from the border areas of the country and selling it in different cities of the country. A case has been filed against the arrested accused at Ghoraghat Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act. The accused was handed over to the court today, Thursday.
