A decision has been taken to change the names of a total of eight halls at Patuakhali University of Science and Technology (PUST). This information was announced in a press release on Thursday with the approval of the university's Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam and signed by Registrar (A.D.) Professor Dr. Iktiar Uddin.
In response to strong student demands, the names of eight residential halls were changed by the decision of the Vice-Chancellor based on the opinion of the Name Change Committee.
Accordingly, the name of Sher-e Bangla Hall-1 of the university has been changed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall-1, Sher-e Bangla Hall-2 has been changed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman-2, Kabi Begum Sufia Kamal Hall has been changed to Chand Sultana Hall, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall has been changed to Kabi Begum Sufia Kamal Hall, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall has been changed to Bijoy 24 Hall, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall of Barisal Campus has been changed to July 36 Hall, the name of the new student hall under construction has been changed to Sher-e Bangla Hall, and the name of the new female student hall under construction has been changed to Tapsi Rabeya Hall. However, the name of M. Keramat Ali Hall remains unchanged.
It should be noted that the names of the halls will remain in effect until further notice from the Board of Regents.
