CONCESS's convening committee members, Partha Saha, Rezaul Islam Reza and other members of the association were present at the time.
Shaheen Ahmed, convener of the College Journalists' Association, said, "On February 21, 1952, when the Bengalis took to the streets demanding 'Bangla as the national language', the Pakistanis responded with bullets. The brave sons of Bengal marched on the streets with the fresh blood of their hearts for their mother tongue, Bangla. The entire nation, touched by that blood, woke up with amazing speed to the pull of its roots."
Srabani Kabir Amy, member secretary of the College Journalists Association, said, "The communalism created by the Pakistanis could not make any difference. Regardless of religion or caste, Bengalis unitedly made one promise that day - we will respect our mother tongue and preserve our culture. Bengali is the wealth of our lives. Therefore, on the eve of the great Ekushey, the pledge of the young generation of this time should be to protect the dignity of the Bengali language."
