Md. Alamgir Hossain Hiru, a staff reporter of Purba Shikha newspaper and Chatkhil correspondent of Daily Jay Jay Kal newspaper, and Rafiquzzaman, Chatkhil correspondent of Daily Dhaka Pratidin, who are associated with Chatkhil Press Club in Noakhali, have been accused of harassment by filing false cases. In this regard, they have separately applied to the Noakhali District Superintendent of Police, detailing the false allegations and seeking exemption from the cases.
Alamgir Hossain Hiru's complaint states that he went to the scene of the incident of the Chhatra League's chase and chase with the leaders and activists of the anti-discrimination student movement on the banks of Halima Dighi in the upazila along with a team of police officers led by Imdadul Haque Bhuiyan, the then officer-in-charge of Chatkhil Police Station, during the anti-discrimination student movement last (July 18) to collect news. After collecting information, he left the scene. 8 months after this incident, Shibir activist Farhadul Islam (23), son of Yusuf Ali of Chhayani Tobga village, filed a case (February 6) against him and 72 others. Case No. CR 55-2025. He protested the harassment of him by filing a false case and applied to the Noakhali District Superintendent of Police yesterday (February 18) to be exempted from the case.
On the other hand, in a written application to the District Police Superintendent by Rafiquzzaman, a tile trader from Chatkhil Bazar, Chatkhil correspondent of Daily Dhaka Pratidin, it was learned that after rumors of the resignation of the chief advisor spread on social media last (January 24), local Awami League and Jubo League leaders and activists held a rehearsal in Bansa Bazar of the upazila. During this, a chase and counter-chase incident occurred between local BNP and Jubo Dal leaders and activists. 16 days after this incident, Masud Alam, the leader of the Municipal Transport Workers' Party, filed a case with Chatkhil Police Station, accusing 84 people as the plaintiff. In the application, he said, I do not know anything about this incident. I have been made an accused in this case with the aim of harming me by some special group. I want to be released from this false case.
