Ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections, potential candidates from various parties have started a meeting to attract voters and familiarize themselves with the Sunamganj-4 (Sadar and Bishambarpur) constituency.
To that end, campaigning and opinion-sharing meetings have begun for Advocate Nurul Islam Nurul, a well-known face as a potential candidate for the seat, former successful convener of the district Chhatra Dal, former joint organizing secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Central Parliament, former general secretary of Sunamganj district BNP and one of the current members of the convening committee.
Leaders and activists of the local BNP, Yuvdal, Chhatra Dal and allied organizations, who have a total of 135 wards in 14 unions and 1 municipality in these two upazilas, are already campaigning for Nurul Islam Nurul among voters in their respective areas.
On Wednesday evening, a meeting was held at the initiative of leaders and activists of BNP, Yubdal, Swechchhasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal in Jahangir Nagar Union No. 7 ward of Sunamganj Sadar Upazila. Under the chairmanship of Surma UP No. 3 President Abdul Hai, Sujan Mia, Sabaj Ali, Liton Mia, Zahur Mia, Shahjahan Mia and Arsab Ali, among others, spoke at the meeting.
The speakers said that during the past authoritarian Awami League government, former Sunamganj District BNP General Secretary and one of the current members of the convening committee, Ed. Nurul Islam Nurul, fought on the streets to realize the demands of the common people after being attacked and sued. The past fascist Awami League government had filed several false cases in his name anonymously to keep Nurul Islam away from the people by jailing him and torturing him.
But Ed. Nurul Islam had occupied the streets with thousands of leaders and activists to fulfill the party's central directives to collect demands by filing false cases. Seeing the popularity, a selfish group is hatching various conspiracies, including fabricated false news and propaganda, to hunt fish in the shallow waters. They also said that the main driving force of a political leader or activist is the grassroots poor, suffering hardworking, farmer and laborer masses of the society.
Ed. Nurul Islam Nurul's soul has been connected with people of all walks of life, regardless of their religious affiliations. Therefore, he expressed hope that no one will be able to create obstacles in Nurul's future dream of building Sunamganj by conspiring. Nurul Islam Nurul is a martyr, a soldier of Ziaur Rahman's ideals for the country, and a worker of three-time former successful Prime Minister BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, who did not leave the streets to follow any instructions.
Therefore, in the next national parliamentary election, there is no alternative to the Trinamool leader Ed. Nurul Islam Nurul, who is a working member of the Sunamganj-4 constituency. The Trinamool leaders and activists of these two upazilas and 135 wards of one municipality, including BNP, Yubadal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Chhatra Dal, and other Trinamool members, have demanded that the party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman and central leaders nominate Ed. Nurul Islam Nurul as the candidate for the paddy sheesh in the next national parliamentary election.
