A team of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted a drive at the Satkhira office of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) to prevent the harassment of brokers. The drive was conducted on Wednesday (February 19) afternoon.
At that time, a broker was arrested while taking money from a person. He was taking the money to get a motorcycle driving license and other documents from BRTA without undergoing any tests or training. The accused person's name is Abul Hossain. He is a resident of Khordo village in Kalaroa upazila.
The operation was led by ACC Khulna office assistant director Mahabur Rahman Shuvro. He said that they started investigating after receiving information that there was an increase in the number of brokers at the BRTA office. Later, after getting the truth about the incident, they conducted an operation. At that time, Abul Hossain was caught by the ACC while taking money.
Apart from this, information was found against office assistant Saiful Islam for making additional money transactions under the pretext of checking mobile banking accounts and providing other documents including driving license. Later, he was arrested and handed over to the assistant director of BRTA. A report on the matter has been sent to the ACC head office. Assistant director Mahabur said that further action will be taken based on the orders of the authorities.
In this regard, Satkhira BRTA Assistant Director Mahabub Kabir said that legal action will be taken against the detained people.
