In Thakurgaon, 21 men and women have been injured in fox bites in 2 days. As a result, the locals are in panic. Meanwhile, the local administration has held an awareness meeting due to the increase in wild animal attacks.
It is known that 21 people were injured in fox attacks in Rahimanpur, Jamalpur Union, Sadar Upazila, Ranishankail and Pirganj Upazilas. Of these, 10 people were injured in Rahimanpur Union, 2 in Jamalpur Union, 7 in Ranishankail Upazila and 2 in Pirganj Upazila.
Locals say that they finish all their work before noon every day and do not go out at night. In this situation, everyone is in panic. Meanwhile, Upazila Executive Officer Khairul Islam has held an awareness meeting in Rahimanpur Union due to the increase in wildlife attacks.
Abul Kalam Azad of Rahimanpur Union said, "I was sitting in the courtyard of my house on Monday night. Suddenly, a pack of foxes entered the house and attacked. When the family members came forward, the foxes ran away. The flesh on my hand was bitten by the foxes."
Several people, including Namja and Reshmi, who were bitten by foxes, said that fox attacks have been increasing for some time now. Even when we go to work in our fields, they attack us from behind. They attack us even when we come inside our houses.
Nurunnahar, assistant conservator of forests at the district forest department, said he did not know about the fox bites and did not know what steps the forest department should take in this regard.
In this regard, Upazila Executive Officer Khairul Islam said, "I spoke to the local chairmen after I came to know about the issues. I also held awareness discussions. However, I advised everyone to be aware. In addition, the upazila administration is forming a medical team and providing treatment. If anyone applies for financial assistance outside of this, it will be done."
