SSC examinees of Shankarpasha Secondary School in Nalchiti, Jhalakathi have accused the school's assistant teacher, Jahangir Alam Emon, of immoral and indecent behavior.
On Tuesday (February 18) at 10 am, the SSC examinees mentioned the matter in a written complaint submitted to the headmaster.
In the complaint, the students mentioned that assistant teacher Jahangir Alam Emon has been behaving indecently with the students for a long time. He comments on the physical appearance of the students, touches them undesirably and engages in various forms of mental harassment.
The students alleged that teacher Emon would pull them by the hand, make fun of their nails and body shape, measure their waist, touch their back, and make offensive comments about physical matters. When his classmates played together, he would make dirty comments and insult them in front of their classmates.
The students have written to the headmaster demanding an end to such harassment and demanding immediate administrative action. The complaint has been signed by 12 SSC examinees.
Locals said that in 2018, an allegation of a women's scandal was raised against assistant teacher Jahangir Alam. New allegations of sexual harassment of students have been made against the same teacher. They said, "We do not expect such behavior from a teacher. We request that the complaint be investigated fairly and impartially and legal action be taken immediately."
In this regard, accused teacher Md. Jahangir Alam Emon said, "The allegations against me are completely false, fabricated and conspiratorial."
School principal Syed Md. Nannu Mia said, "We have received complaints from students and appropriate action will be taken after investigation."
