Police have arrested the entire gang involved in the incident of publicly beating a couple with sticks on their way home in the capital's Uttara. Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Rawnak Jahan of Uttara Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the matter at a press conference at the DMP Media Center on Wednesday.
He said that the couple was attacked with sharp weapons by members of a teenage gang for protesting against speeding on a motorcycle. All members of the gang have been identified and arrested.
On February 17, miscreants publicly attacked a couple on their way home in Uttara, the capital, at around 10:30 pm.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Uttara West Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Hafizur Rahman said that the victim Mehboob Hasan and his wife Ifti were going home on a motorcycle. At that time, three people came on two motorcycles and harassed them. At one point, the motorcycle hit a rickshaw at an intersection. Then they got into an argument with Hasan and the rickshaw driver. After receiving information from one of the three, two more people brought sharp weapons. They immediately attacked the husband and wife and injured them.
