Everyone probably remembers the internet shutdown during the July-August protests. The entire country was cut off from the online world. Those who didn't have offline games downloaded on their smartphones in advance were forced to play Google Chrome's famous dinosaur game.
Modeled after Google Chrome's offline dinosaur game, this new satire game features a well-known political figure from Bangladesh running against a Nobel laureate, waiting with a thorn in his hand—so he can strike whenever he gets the chance!
The game is called 'Run, Run, Hasina'. It took social media by storm in just one night after its release, with more than 340,000 users playing it.
The game was created by Tasrif bin Mizan, a student of the Multimedia and Creative Technology Department of Daffodil International University. Tasrif said that he was experimenting with a new game engine. The idea of the meme was in his head, and he immediately thought - why not make a political satire game on the model of the popular dinosaur game! After that, 'Run, Hasina, Run' was created in just 8-10 hours.
However, Tasrif is reluctant to call it a typical indie-style game. Rather, he sees it as a 'viral meme'. In his words, 'If you make a game about political figures, it will never be commercially successful. I made it mainly for fun, but I knew it had enough substance to spread on social media.'
The task of the players in the game is to make Sheikh Hasina's character run and avoid the attacks of her opponent who is holding a fork. As the game begins, Sheikh Hasina's voice starts reciting Rabindranath Tagore's poem - 'I am helpless, I am empty, I have nothing to give; I have only love, so I gave it'.
On the way, she had to collect special coins with the image of her father Sheikh Mujib. The Indian national flag flew behind her, Hasina ran after Narendra Modi with all her might, while her opponent Yunus stood in front of her, blocking her with a thorn in his hand.
But the real fun of the game comes after you lose the game. When you stumble while running or collecting coins, you will hear a familiar dialogue—'What crime have I committed?' Within just a few hours, the game became popular on social media.!
