Ujjwal Roy, District Representative from Narail:
There have been allegations of vandalism of houses by encroaching on the land of a widow in Narail Sadar Upazila. The incident took place in Ratdanga village of Chandibarpur union of the upazila. The victim, Shubha Rani Biswas, has filed a complaint with Narail Sadar Police Station. Ujjwal Roy, district representative from Narail, said that the accused are Shushan Adhikari and Sameer Adhikari, sons of the deceased Govinda Adhikari of the same village.

The victim Shubha Rani mentioned in her complaint that the accused Shushan used to work on Shubha Rani's land from her childhood. Shubha Rani's husband died a year ago. Since then, Shubha Rani has been living alone. At one stage, on February 12, Shushan and Sameer came to Shubha Rani's house with their people and demolished her house. At that time, Shubha Rani stopped them from demolishing the house, but Shushan said, 'Your husband has written off my land, you vacate our house'. Forced to do so, Shubha Rani filed a written complaint with Narail Sadar Police Station on the same day.
Shubha Rani said, "I knew it when my husband wrote down the land. They have seized the land using fake documents. A case has been going on in the court for 3-4 years. When they came to demolish the house, I stopped them, but they didn't listen. Later, when I filed a complaint at the police station, I found that they had even cut off the soil on the floor of the house. They had cut down the trees."
When asked, accused Shushan said, "I bought this land along with the house. My house and doors are damaged, so I am demolishing it and building a new house."
Admitting the ongoing issue of land ownership, Shushan said, "A false case has been filed to prevent me from entering the land. No verdict has been given in the case yet. But the court has not prohibited me from entering the land either. So I am demolishing my house."
Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sajedul Islam said, "We sent a beat officer after receiving the complaint. It is learnt that they are demolishing their own houses and building houses themselves, and a case is pending in the court over the land." Ujjwal Roy, District Representative from Narail.
