Islami Andolan Bangladesh Joint Secretary General and Dhaka Metropolitan North President Principal Hafez Maulana Sheikh Fazle Bari Masud said, the local government structure has collapsed. There is no chairman, councilor, municipal mayor, city mayor. Administrators or acting officials can only do routine work. They have no opportunity to do anything more than this. Administrators are becoming dictatorial because local government elections are not held quickly. National elections first or local elections first; He said these things today in response to those who want to gain benefits by bringing this debate to the fore.
He also said that the local government system is the breeding ground for corruption. And if the local government structure is weak, it will become a major arena for corruption. To keep local government free from corruption and immoral influences, local elections must be held before the national elections. Because if the national parliamentary elections are held before the local elections, the elected parliamentarian will create his own circle or setup with his loyalists. With whom he will steal rice, pulses, oil, wheat, tin for the entire five years. He will withdraw TR and Kabikha allocations without working. If this system is not reformed now, the next generation will put the previous politicians and the interim government on trial.
