A survey by India Today NE found that 50.2 percent of Indians want Sheikh Hasina to be thrown out of the country.
The media recently conducted a survey titled 'Mood of the Nation', which revealed the opinion of the Indian public on granting asylum to former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Of the 50.2 percent of respondents, 21.1 percent believe that he should be sent back to Bangladesh to improve India's relations with the country's current government.
A survey published on India Today NE's Facebook page showed that the remaining 29.1 percent of voters said Hasina should be asked to leave for another country, not Bangladesh.

55 percent of Indians in the northeastern region of the neighboring country want Sheikh Hasina to be sent back to Bangladesh.
In contrast, 37.6 percent of Indians believe that Hasina was an ally of India, so giving her asylum there was the right thing to do.
Sheikh Hasina fled to India on August 5 with her sister Sheikh Rehana in the face of the July uprising. She has been in India since then. She is facing more than 100 cases, including murder, genocide and crimes against humanity, in connection with the killings at that time.
On December 23, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs formally wrote to the Indian government to facilitate Sheikh Hasina's return to Bangladesh. India has not yet responded.
