He was sent to Manikganj District Jail by a court on Sunday afternoon (February 16). Earlier, he was arrested from his home in the early hours of the morning on charges of sabotage.
The arrested Md. Alamgir Hossain Alam (20) is the son of Nurul Islam of Chalitabari area of the upazila and the general secretary of Shimulia Union Chhatra League.
Shivaloy Police Station OC ARM Al-Mamun said that the operation was conducted as part of Operation Devil Hunt. The Chhatra League leader was arrested in the operation. According to police sources, his involvement was found in the investigation of a case filed in the attack and sabotage on anti-discrimination students and public in Paturia Ferry Ghat area on August 5. He was arrested based on the investigation.
Police said that the operation to arrest other accused in the case and those under investigation is continuing.
