The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Conference was inaugurated by the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus. He was addressed as the chief guest there. He was 'suffered' by it. Dr. Yunus expressed the pain of his speech.
He said, "I felt hurt by being called the chief guest. It was as if I was being kept out of the playground."
The Chief Advisor inaugurated the conference at the Shapla Hall of the Chief Advisor's office on Sunday (February 16) at 10:30 am.
He said, "I felt a little hurt when I was called the chief guest. It was as if I was being kept out of this playground. I should have been the captain of the game. But I was made a guest. I don't want to speak as a guest. I want to speak as a captain."
As an example, he said, "We are all responsible for whatever needs to be done in Bangladesh, just like we are players in a game—cricket or football. Today, we have a gathering of these players. We have to prepare, decide what our strategy will be, what our objectives will be, who has what to do—all of these things."
The Deputy Commissioners' Conference is organized every year under the supervision of the Cabinet Division to facilitate direct exchange of views and provide necessary guidance between the government's policymakers and the District Commissioners. As part of this, this year's conference will also discuss and take decisions on the proposals given by the DCs regarding various ministries and departments in the presence of advisors and secretaries.
