A policeman committed suicide by hanging himself with a towel in Satkhira. The incident took place at around 3 am on Sunday (February 16) at his rented house in Rasulpur area of Satkhira city. The name of the policeman who committed suicide is Anupam Kumar Ghosh (26). He is the son of Ashish Kumar Ghosh of Durgapur Kharamkhali village under Chitalmari police station in Bagerhat district. His police ID card number is 1122.
Police sources said that Constable Anupam Ghosh was working at Satkhira Police Lines. He lived in a rented house with his wife in Rasulpur area. He returned home after duty at around 2 am on Sunday. Later, at around 3 am, he committed suicide by hanging himself with a towel around his neck from the ceiling fan of the house.
When his family members found him, they rescued him and took him to Satkhira Sadar Hospital around 3:30 am, where the doctor on duty at the emergency department declared him dead. It is believed that he committed suicide due to a family dispute. Dr. Maruf Hasan, a doctor at the emergency department of Sadar Hospital, said that he died before being taken to the hospital.
Satkhira Sadar Police Station OC Shaminul Islam confirmed the incident and said that after receiving the information, we went to the spot in the early hours of the morning. It is believed that he committed suicide by hanging himself due to a family dispute. The body has been sent to the Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Necessary legal action will be taken after the investigation.
