A press conference was held at the temporary office of the nationalist party BNP adjacent to Abu Hossain Supermarket on Sunday, February 16 at 11 am, at the initiative of Sadullapur Upazila BNP, in protest against the inclusion of the names of innocent BNP leaders and activists in the murder case of banned Chhatra League leader Al-Mamun in Sadullapur, Gaibandha.
At this time, Sadullapur Upazila BNP convener Chamsul Hasan Chamsul presided over the meeting. Sadullapur Upazila BNP member secretary Abdus Salam Mia said in his written statement that on February 13, we strongly condemn and protest the murder of Al-Mamun, the leader of the banned organization Chhatra League, in the Dhaperhat Jamdani More area of Dhaperhat Union of Sadullapur Upazila, Gaibandha. Along with this, a case was filed with Sadullapur Police Station on February 14 regarding this murder.
It is worth noting that although they were not involved in the murder, the names of innocent newly elected Organizing Secretary of Dhaperhat Union BNP Masud Mia, renowned Chairman of Dhaperhat Union Parishad and former president of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal Sadullapur Upazila branch Shahidul Islam Shipon, former senior joint convener of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Sadullapur Upazila branch Zahid Hasan Selim, former General Secretary of Dhaperhat Union branch of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Party BNP Kazi Amjad Hossain, and member of Ward No. 3 branch of Dhaperhat Union BNP Anju Mia were included in the list of those accused of tarnishing the party's image.
Several CCTV footages of the murder have already gone viral on social media, where it is mentioned that the accused have been seen. Therefore, BNP leaders demanded that the real culprits be identified after a proper investigation after looking at the CCTV footage and brought under the law without delay and given exemplary punishment.
