Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM) Chairman Bobby Hajjaj has said that the Awami League should be banned as a terrorist party before the next national election.
He made this statement to reporters in front of the Foreign Service Academy in the capital at around 4 pm on Saturday (February 15).
Bobby Hajjaj said, "In the last 16 years, the Awami League has committed genocide in the country. They have stolen votes in all the last elections. Especially, they committed unprecedented genocide in July-August. Therefore, the party has now been identified as a terrorist party by the people of the country. We have informed the chief advisor that the Awami League should be officially declared a terrorist party and their politics should be banned."
He said, "We talked about various issues in today's meeting. We highlighted when and how the national elections will be held. However, before that, we said we want to see the Awami League banned."
Regarding the upcoming elections, Bobby Hajjaj said, "We have firmly stated that there will be no local elections before the national elections. We believe that there could be a lot of riots and unrest surrounding the local elections. The police force is not able to control law and order right now, and they will not be able to do so. Therefore, we have stated that there should be no local elections before the national elections."
No major reforms are possible outside an elected government. So an election is needed soon. We have said, it should not be given in 2025, but very soon. Before that, each reform commission should sit with each party and discuss the reforms. If a consensus cannot be reached on the reforms, then the political government will do the reforms.
